Severance Infographic
Graphic Design | Data Visualization | Infographic Design
Graphic Design studio project focused on developing an information graphic poster utilizing ~100 pieces of information and exploring data visualization.
Sketching
Background
Severance is an Apple TV+ dystopian psychological thriller where employees at Lumon Industries use a surgical procedure to split their consciousness into two. The "innie" has no memory of the outside world, while the "outie" remembers nothing about their job. Employees slowly uncover a dark corporate conspiracy.
The purpose of the infographic is to dissect the information surrounding the symbolism, visual design, art direction, and intentionality of the show’s plot and its artistic choices. It is primarily intended for those who have seen the show, but may not have picked up on all the tiny details that take the show to a new level.
The beginning stages of the project started with sketching out gathered information from preliminary research. Through sketching, I was able to try different visual systems that both effectively display information while also capturing the visual language of the show.
Visual Exploration
Before digitizing the sketches, I conducted some visual exploration to predetermine the visual language aligned with the themes and visual style of the television show. This was important due to the distinct style and storytelling the show has.
